Drones are gated behind progression in Automate a Restaurant — you can't skip straight to full automation. The general path is:

1. Complete the intro tutorial and earn baseline currency from manual service.
2. Reach the milestone that opens the drone dock / workshop (the upgrade menu where automation lives).
3. Buy or claim your first drone slot and assign it to a single job.

What Drones Cost

Drone systems generally use the same soft currency as crops and stations, and sometimes require rare drops from rare-ingredient runs on top of that. There are no fixed prices — costs can change with patches — so keep a stable income loop running before you commit to your first drone.

Which Role to Unlock First

Don't unlock a drone just because you can. Unlock the one that fixes your current bottleneck:

• Harvest — if your field has outgrown how fast you can pick by hand.
• Cook — if you have one or two profitable dishes and cooking them yourself is the slow part.
• Serve — if your cooking output is piling up faster than you can walk plates to customers.

After Your First Drone

Get one drone working reliably in its role before unlocking a second. Upgrade its speed and capacity first, and only add another unit when the current one is busy more than 80% of a rush cycle.
