Automate a Restaurant Drones Guide: Roles, Uses & Scaling
A full guide to drones in Automate a Restaurant (Roblox): the Harvest, Cook, and Serve roles, what they can and can't do, and how to scale them.
Drones in Automate a Restaurant
Drones are the core of automation in Automate a Restaurant. They take over the repetitive manual jobs — harvesting, cooking, and serving — so your restaurant keeps running while you focus on expansion and better recipes. This guide breaks down each role and how to grow your drone fleet efficiently. You can play the game on Roblox.
The Three Roles
| Role | Task | Best time to add it |
|---|---|---|
| Harvest | Picks ripe crops and delivers them to storage. | When your field is bigger than you can hand-harvest quickly. |
| Cook | Batches recipes at assigned cooking stations. | After you've locked in one or two profitable dishes. |
| Serve | Moves finished food to customers or counters. | When cooking output exceeds your own walking speed. |
Some builds combine movement and interaction in a single unit; others split the duties across specialized drones.
What Drones Do — and Don't Do
They do:
- Harvest crops, operate cooking stations, and carry finished plates to customers.
- Execute exactly the assignments you configure.
They don't:
- Discover new recipes — they can only run recipes you've already unlocked.
- Choose crops, recipes, or where to place stations. Those decisions stay with you.
Cost
Drone systems generally consume the same soft currency as crops and stations, and sometimes require rare drops from rare-ingredient runs as well. Exact prices aren't fixed and can shift with patches, so treat drones as a mid-game investment funded by a stable income loop.
How to Scale Your Fleet
- Chain the roles into a line: Harvest → Cook → Serve, with hand-off zones so units don't jam.
- Upgrade before you duplicate: max out the speed and capacity of one reliable drone before buying a second one in the same role.
- Use the 80% rule: only add another drone when the previous one is busy more than 80% of a rush cycle. If it's idle, a second unit won't help.
In Co-op
In a shared restaurant, permissions may limit who can rebind drones. Decide as a team who owns automation so nobody's assignments get overwritten during a rush.
